The Department of Biotechnology was set up in 2004. The Department offers a double main under graduate course along with the Department of Botany, the course named as Career related FDP in Botany and Biotechnology. The department also offers open course in Bioinformatics to the students of other departments. The Department has two faculty members with a good academic and research background. The infrastructure includes ICT enabled classrooms and also a well-equipped laboratory with a good potential for development. The conventional mode of teaching as well as teaching using new sources like using power points are adopted according to the need of the students. The students are encouraged to use the laboratory facilities and every student is taught to use the various equipment as per their need so as to have hands on expertise in doing lab experiment. The Department encourages and takes part in various student enrichment programmes like club activities, industrial visit, study tours etc and also engages in the initiatives of higher education like WWS, SSP etc. Mission To inculcate the students with the art of learning and knowledge of Biotechnology for empowering them to become better human beings with true scientific temperament. Vision To bring in young minds to the world of Biotechnology. To ideate and enlighten them with the basics as well as different advanced aspects of the subject. To develop their skills and talents for making significant contributions towards the ever expanding horizon of Biotechnology.
